Decreased libido:
Depression leads to reduced sex drive due to low-esteem, loss of interest, fatigue etc.
Erectile dysfunction(ED):
There is an increased risk of erectile dysfunction in men due to stress, irritability, anxiety, mood swings that come with depression. Difficulty in a, frustration, agitation, emptiness.
Anorgasmia:
It is the difficulty to ejaculate in a sexual activity or poor performance, fatigue.
Relationship issue:
Depression may lead to social withdrawal, feeling disconnected from their own self and their life partner causing dissatisfaction, guilt which makes physical intimacy more challenging.
Anxiety, stress and lack of self-esteem:
Depression can negatively affect day-to-day activities which leads to anxiety, stress and low sexual confidence, observed sex drive and other sexual problems.
Drug abuse:
Misuse of drugs such as antidepressants mainly (SSRIs) and serotonin reuptake inhibitors cause decreased libido, ED, although they are used to treat depression, drug abuse leads to severe sexual side effects.
CONCLUSION
Proper medication, life-style changes like balanced diet, sleep, yoga, exercise, better communication to each other, counseling, drug adherence, loose adjustments in SSRI’s can help to restore the emotional and physical well being of a person.
